Meherat Balay, a member of the Ethiopian community in Israel, was born in Ethiopia in 1994 and immigrated to Israel in 1995. He comes from a family of ten children and lives in Rishon-Le-Zion where he graduated high school. Meherat is an Israeli champion in Archery, a member of the national team, and also coaches youth in this sport.
In 2014 Meherat obtained his pilot's license for light sport aircraft, and is currently gaining flight experience by flying Ye'elim Association's airplane. Despite his will to serve as a pilot in the IAF Meherat was not accepted to the aviation course due to visual impairments.
